Jordan Brand will be releasing Chicago Bulls-inspired Air Jordan 1 on January 5th as well as the Retro High ‘Knicks” colorway on the same day. Presented in white/varsity red/black, the high-cut and retro release features a prominent swoosh as well as the old school Jordan logo with wings — which pre-dated the now legendary Jumpman — on the tongue and heel. A controversially colored shoe at the time, the release will come in packaging similar to the original. Controversial because when Jordan first wore it, only white shoes were allowed on the NBA court. Every time he wore this shoe he was fined $5,000, and every time he was fined $5,000 Nike wrote a check. Nike and Jordan helped paved the way of stylish colored basketball kicks.
